Exodus Week 7 Day 34
Read Exodus 38:8 & Hebrews 10:22
In Exodus 38 and 39 we get to see the specific instructions God gave Moses when it came to how to build the tabernacle. The tabernacle needed a place for burnt offerings, a courtyard, a basin to wash themselves in, clothes for Aaron the priest to wear, and many other things made in a very specific way.
For example, we see in Exodus 38:8 there was a basin made of bronze metal that was sitting in the entrance of the Tabernacle. This basin was filled with water and was meant for anyone that was entering the Tabernacle to wash and make themselves clean. They could not approach the Holy Place without cleaning their hands and feet. Imagine you walk into Radiate next week and instead of a check-in table we had a gigantic fountain. You had to wash your hands, then take off your shoes and wash your feet. That is what the Israelites had to do every time they entered the Tabernacle.
Why? Because we are an unclean people. More than just dirt on our hands or mud on our feet, our sin makes us spiritually unclean and therefore we can no longer have a personal relationship with God without becoming clean. Thankfully we have Jesus. Hebrews 10:22 says that God has cleansed our hearts and washed them clean. This means that when Jesus died on the cross, he washed away all our spiritual filth (sin) through our faith in Him.
This means that we don’t have to feel like we have to get our lives together before we read our Bible, pray or come to Radiate. We are able to stand before Jesus and worship Him because the blood of Jesus has washed us clean.
Reflect:
Have you ever been so dirty and muddy that it was hard to get off? What did you do to get the dirt off?
Remember that spiritually, there is nothing you can do to clean yourself. Only Jesus can make you clean through your faith in His death and resurrection. Are there times where you try to clean yourself by “being a good person”? How do you do this?
Today you can run to Jesus and worship Him. There is no space between you and God because of His sacrifice. Thank Him for that and spend time with Jesus in prayer today.
