Fasting Devotion Day 20
READ
“Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”” Joshua 1:7-9 NKJV
THINK
As a church we are going through a pretty big transition as we prepare for a new year and the changes it will bring. However that is nothing in comparison to the transition that Israel and Joshua were facing. This nation had literally spent an entire generation wandering in the desert and now it was time to battle for the Promised Land. Not only that but the leader who had rescued and sustained them was now gone. It would have been very easy for Joshua to be consumed with uncertainty and fear.
From pressures at work, to what we see on the news, and what we sometimes see our friends and families go through, it’s easy to be afraid of the situations we encounter in this world. Life is sure to bring it’s challenges, but we can face these challenges without fear. The key is to remember God’s promises to us. He is always with us giving us His strength, and nothing can ever separate us from His mighty hands! We must only be strong and courageous in our faith towards Him.
1. Looking back, what events have you been through where you could’ve trusted God more and how might the result changed? How does that effect the way you will face challenges in the future?
2. What is something you can do today or tomorrow to trust God more? How can you set yourself up for a miracle?
PRAY
Today as a church we pray for Boldness and Courage. We have the greatest news in the history of humanity and we have a God that is going with us every step of the way! Please pray that we would dream impossible dreams and live with audacious faith.
