Fasting Devotion Day 4
READ
“In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a message was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar. The message was true, but the appointed time was long; and he understood the message, and had understanding of the vision. In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia. Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come. ”” Daniel 10:1-3, 12-14 NKJV
THINK
What really was going though Daniel’s mind after a few days of seeking the face of God and finding nothing? He is doing all the right things but for so long it seems as though God just is not going to show up. In my own prayer life as the pastor of Ignite and just as a man of faith I have so often assumed that something must not be God’s will because my prayers just weren’t answered in a timely manner. It is a humbling truth that I have often given up on hearing from God because of my impatience.
Understand the reality that heaven reverberates with the heart cries of the people of God. Your prayers are heard by a very real and powerful God the moment you cry out to Him. However we must also understand the truth that spiritual warfare is real and we have no idea the battles that are fought in the heavenlies so that God can reach down into our situation. We must stay the course and know that God is faithful!
1. What is the longest you’ve ever prayed for something without getting answer? Can you make a commitment to persevere in prayer knowing that angels are battling to get into your presence?
2. If God could answer one question what would it be right now? How would knowing the answer to that question change your life?
PRAY
Pray for God to bring you a special revelation. During this time of fasting and prayer is so important for us to continually remember that this 21 days is not an end to itself but instead tis simply a tool to help us see the face of Jesus. We have prayer answering God and today let's call out to Him that we may see His face and be a reflection of Him to the world!
